Stephen Gormley Photography – Nottingham Wedding and Portrait Photographer bio picture

Welcome!

Hi,

I am a photographer based in Nottinghamshire and I specialise in wedding photography and family lifestyle portraiture.  My aim is to create beautiful images of people by keeping them relaxed and unposed.  With weddings this is most important to me, capturing an observational record of the day with a splash of stylish bride and groom portraits!

Here I'll be sharing some of my favourite images, wedding stories, news and a little of my family from time to time.  Be sure to visit regularly and feel free to post any comments you have!

Break with traditional timings?

I recently came across an article by the London based wedding planner, Zoe Lingard.

In the article, Zoe considers the benefits of scheduling some of the wedding photography to before the ceremony, as per many wedding events in the US. There are numerous advantages to this, but clearly the main thing that would have to change is that the first meeting between the Bride and Groom would not be at the start of the ceremony in front of everybody, but instead at prior to the ceremony, possibly in a private meeting as often happens in the US.

I have to say, although I understand all of the traditions that exist particularly in the UK,  I love the idea of a private moment prior to the ceremony.  An emotional, tender few moments to spend together and say a few words, something that couples don’t get opportunity to do when they meet right at the start of the ceremony.  I’ve seen plenty of images of these private moments taken at US weddings and they can be truly special.  I think they could add to the wedding day and certainly not detract anything from the ceremony itself.

Would you consider it?
