Here are a few landscape images I took on a family stroll around Clumber Park a couple of weekends ago. I won’t get all pretentious and say how amazing the light was, in truth the light was a bit weird really. When we first arrived there was white cloud and low lying fine mist that meant colours looked naturally muted and trees across the lake were merely faint outlines. Within a few moments the sun became stronger, breaking through thinner spots in the white cloud, burning through the mist and putting a spotlight on a few trees before disappearing again. As it did this I took a few images on my Canon Powershot S95. As I reviewed them on the back of the camera I felt a little disappointed as they didn’t seem to do justice to what I was seeing. This morning I have done a little post production in Lightroom to get closer to what I remembered seeing that Sunday morning and I have also tried a couple of black and white conversions to see how the faded trees across the lake would look. I also dialled down the exposure for a couple fo shots for a slightly different look. Here are a few of my favourites:

We had a rare but welcome opportunity this weekend to spend a couple of days as tourists visiting the capital, rather than flying through for the purposes of work! With brief visits to the Natural History Museum, The Science Museum and The British Museum we tried to pack in as much as possible as well as treating it as a reccy for a return trip with our children in a few weeks time. We also had a brief walk along the Thames and around Westminster before catching the train back home.

Although all the museums were interesting, the Science Museum in particular had some fascinating exhbits on display. Stephenson’s Rocket had particular interest for me having spent my early childhood living a few hundred yards from where the Rainhill Trials had taken place 150 years earlier. Mika Hakkinen’s F1 car damaged in a crash at the 1999 German Grand Prix is also on display. Here are a few images from our brief trip all taken with my new, replacement 50mm lens.

PS – I don’t know if I should tell anyone but it looks like somebody has nicked a pod from the London Eye!

Although Nottinghamshire isn’t renowned for it’s dramatic landscapes, I think there are parts of the region that at certain times of year are fantastic. Here are a couple of simple images taken on the River Trent a few Sundays ago.
