Katie and Georg’s Wedding, St Johns College, Cambridge & Longstowe Hall, Cambridgeshire

A stunning September morning and we travelled to Cambridge for Katie & Georg’s wedding. They met when at St Johns College and as alumni were allowed the opportunity to hold their wedding ceremony at the stunning chapel there. Both Katie and Georg got ready at Hotel du Vin and the boys enjoyed a walk though town to get to the chapel, whilst Katie travelled in a beautiful classic car. The ceremony was stunning, in a beautiful venue and incredible sounds from the choir and Tenor.

After the ceremony we took a short drive into the Cambridgeshire countryside to Longstowe Hall, a beautiful country house. The guests enjoyed drinks on the lawn before photos and we had a brief portrait session with Katie & Georg, after which they headed in for the wedding breakfast and speeches. The speeches were particularly memorable but Georg stole the show with a speech that left the girls with a tear in their eyes and the boys wishing they had written it! Congratulations Katie & Georg!

Sarah and Mark’s Wedding, Whaplode, Lincolnshire

When I checked the weather the afternoon before Sarah & Mark’s wedding it seemed like I needed to be prepared for a total washout. Indeed, travelling to Whaplode on the morning of the wedding made it seem even more certain. I popped into the marquee before meeting Sarah, and Mark was there with Best Man and ushers trying to deal with waterlogged floors and standing water on the grass outside where they had planned the drinks reception. Despite the weather conditions, Mark and Sarah were both very pragmatic about the conditions. The ushers did a great job of keeping Sarah dry upon her arrival at the church and the ceremony was lovely. Within moments of signing the register, it seemed the sky outside brightened and the noise of the rain on the old church roof abaited. Given the forecast, it seemed a minor miracle and although there were a few cloudy moments later in the afternoon, Sarah, Mark and their wedding guests could enjoy the rest of the day outside. Congratulations Sarah & Mark!

Sarah and Carl’s Wedding, Burghley House, Stamford

A short hop to to the beautiful town of Stamford for this early summer wedding and the marriage of Sarah and Carl. Sarah got ready with her Bridesmaids in a beautiful property on a picturesque cobbled street in the town centre and had even organised a horse and carriage for her and her bridesmaids to travel over to Burghley House. The weather was a little unpredicatable but it held off just enough to allow Sarah to travel most of the way to Burghley with the carriage top open. After a lovely ceremony in the Great Hall and drinks in the Orangery we managed a short time outside for confetti, a group photo and a few portraits of Sarah and Carl in the private gardens before the rain started again. However, being the stunning Burghley, this allowed us a little more time for photographs in the Heaven Room and the Hell Staircase. After the fabulous food and speeches we all continued the celebrations in the Orangery with lots of fun, lively dancing till late! Congratulations Sarah and Carl!

May & Matt’s Wedding, Carlton Towers, Yorkshire

We took a drive through Lincolnshire and over the Humber Bridge to meet May & Matt for their start of their wedding day. It was a beautiful sunny day with blue sky and huge cotton-wool clouds that stayed with us all day. After a short time each with May & Matt we then travelled over to Carlton Towers, a stunning Gothic style country house where the civil ceremony was held. May & Matt’s wedding ceremony was full of tears and laughter and was a memorable occasion. After drinks and a short portrait session with May and Matt we headed over to a large Chinese resaurant in Hull to continue the celebrations, with fircrackers, speeches, delicious and plentiful food and dancing. Congratulations May & Matt!

Emma & Ian – Blenheim Palace Wedding, Oxfordshire

I had been looking forward to Emma & Ian’s wedding ever since I found out about the plans for their wedding at Blenheim Palace. It was obvious from the first time I met Emma that her attention to detail and her organisational skills meant that this would be an incredible day! She had given so much thought to everything (not just the incredible venues!), but her hair stylist, make up artist, florist and dress maker were all very obviously carefully considered. The weather on the wedding day in late March was a welcome surprise too, with a cloudless sky, balmy temperature and low Spring sunshine! A complete contrast to the weather for their pre-wedding shoot in November (link here).

A stunning day and an absolute pleasure to photograph! Congratulations Emma & Ian!

Queensberry Albums – By Hand

Whenever I meet perspective clients, I really enjoy showing them a selection of Queensberry albums and I enjoy talking about the qualty of printing and quality of materials used in production. I also take time to discuss the range of options available in making each album unique from page types, sizes, cover materials, motifs and titles. The thing I probably don’t stress well enough is the amount of care, skill and pride that goes into making each album. Indeed, it is a key part of making them them, in my view, the best albums in the world.

This film goes some way to giving you a glimpse of how these beautiful albums are made. Each time I look at the film, it makes me proud that I exclusively use Queensberry as my album provider. Prianka & Jayendra – Asian Wedding at Kelham Hall, Nottinghamshire

Prianka & Jayendra’s Hindu Wedding at Kelham Hall, Nottinghamshire in mid March was a fantastically enjoyable day to photograph. We had a fairly early start to meet Prianka at Kelham to capture some images of her and she looked stunning in her detailed and intricate dress. Before long she had to hide herself away in readiness for the arrival of the Groom. Jayendra arrived at Kelham via a very impressive and noisy motor convoy before the dancing and greeting of the two families. Male peers from each side of the family greet each other by exchanging garlands, then often the younger men turn this into a show of strength by trying to lift one another off the ground! Its a spectacular way to start wedding celebrations!

The whole day was full of stunning colours, incredible outfits, beautiful food, music, fun and lots of dancing! Amongst all of this were the poignant symbolic stages of the ceremony under the Mandap and then the departure of the Bride and Groom and the emotional goodbyes between Prianka and her family. The whole day was a joy and pleasure to photograph. Congratulations to Prianka & Jayendra!

During the day we worked alongside some very talented suppliers, including Delsonic who provided the AV, lighting and audio for the day and Reelvision who provided videography for the day, they did a fantastic job and their highlight footage from the day can be seen here.

Changes to Online Client Gallery

As part of the overall improvements that have been made to my website and blog over the past few months, the latest change now includes an updated client gallery page. Primarily, this has been done to improve the look and layout of the gallery and images, has allowed for larger thumbnails and previews, it is much easier to navigate and the shopping facility is simpler to use. All payments are now handled by Paypal, so payment can be made via your Paypal account if you have one or via a credit card or debit card without the need for a Paypal account.

I have not included some of the older galleries or those galleries that have not been accessed in 12 months or longer, but if your gallery is not present and you would like it adding in to the new format then please get in touch and I will be happy to add your gallery in within 48 hours. For those of you whose gallery has been updated, the existing access password that you have is still valid to open up the full set of images.

Introducing Queensberry Press Books

I thought I’d let you know about a beautiful, new, alternative album product that I’ve introduced into our collections. They are produced in New Zealand by Queensberry, the company I exclusively use for albums and they are known as Press Books. To help you understand what they are like, I could use the words ‘Coffee Table Book’, but that just doesn’t tell you everything about the books, in fact the only common elements with Press Books and Coffee Table books might just be the hard cover and soft pages!

As usual with Queensberry, there are some key elements that set this book apart from other soft-paged books, most importantly the print quality. Where many other manufacturers will print with a four colour system, Queensberry use six, resulting in more accurate colours and smoother transitions in image tones. A bit nerdy, I know, but I cannot stress how important a factor this is for your wedding day images.

There are some lovely touches in the books, such as the options to include translucent pages, textured end-papers embossed with the Queensberry mark, personalised dust jackets and covers and ribbon book marks.
